blackwood's famous homecoming carnival and dance
BLACKWOOD, CALIFORNIA--
Blackwood Academy. Just your regular, average, everyday school, right? Sure. The students take any class any other student would, the school is dominated and divided by different social groups, the students all drink underage and go out on the weekends and have a good time they way they would anywhere else. Sure, they go to school in a building almost 140 years old, but everything has been updated and modernized for convenience. The campus is beautiful and filled with lots of little nooks and crannies that make a prefect place to curl up with a book. There are huge fireplaces in some of the main building areas, which are often lit and make great places to hang out with your friends. Just a picture perfect place with picture perfect views and picture perfect people.

description;; The first thing you get to know about Tai is that he is extremely artistic. He masters four different instruments, the guitar, drums, piano and cello although he never plays the cello anymore. True to the cliché about Asian tourists, he loves taking photographs because he wants to catch every memory and freeze it for eternity. He’s also exceedingly bright and does well in every class, not surprisingly he is the top student in the Mandarin Chinese class. He’s also very talented when it comes to chemistry, maths and computers, but seems, curiously enough to have no interest in social sciences, politics and the likes of it.
Although Tai strikes you as the typical nerdy Asian student, he has a darker side. He’s very temperamental and knows how to manipulate people to achieve his goals. He has a fascination for weapons, combat strategies, wars, murder cases and in general topics that touch the idea of people getting hurt. For an 18-year-old young man he knows an alarming huge amount about warfare. He’s extremely restless and calculative, always trying to stay one step ahead of you. The only time Tai really relaxes is when he’s playing music, taking photos or dancing.
But in general, Tai is a kind-natured young man who enjoys being social. He has his opinions and you have to come up with some very sound arguments to make him change his mind. He’s determined and at times violent, but if you’re his friend he will protect you and stay by you until the end, there is no way you could ever question his loyalty towards the ones he cares about. Only problems is, you never know if you’re on his list of allies. He talks to everyone and treats everyone politely, but whether he’ll stick by you in a crisis you won’t be able to tell until you’re actually in the crisis. He doesn’t like people getting too close to him and will push girls away from him rather than let them into his heart. He enjoys taking photos of pretty girls though, because he treasures the beauty of women. He’s a romantic, but someone you often feel uneasy about when in company with because you can’t seem to figure him out.

{ Character || History }
parents;; Tatsuya and Aiyu Hamasaki siblings;; Aya Hamasaki (younger sister) children;; None. other relatives;; Kaneshiro Hamasaki (Uncle), Tablo Hamasaki (cousin) history;; Tai Hamasaki was born in Hong Kong as the first child of Tatsuya and Aiyu Hamasaki. Tatsuya Hamasaki was the editor of the Sing Tao, a Hong Kong newspaper, his wife Aiyu Hamasaki was a successful lawyer who could proudly boast that she had never lost a case in her life. They were a happy family, and two years later they were joined by Tai’s baby sister, Aya. Aya and Tai were raised properly; they were taught to respect their elders and were from an early age taught different subjects. Even before they were old enough to go to school they could read, write and do some basic maths. Together with Aya, Tai took music lessons, learning to play the piano whilst Aya accompanied him on the violin and the cello. She even taught him to play, even though she was two years younger. Imagine a ten year old girl teaching her 12 year old brother to play the cello. It was a heart-warming adorable sight. The two children missed nothing in their life, their parents had money to send them to the best schools in Hong Kong and loved their children more than anything in the world.
However, shortly after Tai’s 13th birthday, things were to change forever. Tatsuya had been experiencing problem at work; the Chinese government was censuring his newspaper, forbidding him to publish certain news that reached his ears. With his wife’s help he attempted to keep the government at bay and at peace. The Olympics were to be held in Beijing and in order to make Beijing a suitable place for the Olympics, houses were being demolished and their owners put into prison. Human rights were being violated. Tatsuya had always been an outspoken, bold and brave man. He defied the government and printed an article without authorisation. That morning, only an hour after the newspaper had been published, the police came and took Tatsuya away. Aiyu tried her best to get news of what was happening to her husband, but it was impossible. For all her efforts, Tatsuya might never have existed. In desperation she called Tatsuya’s brother, Kaneshiro, asking him for help. He arrived the next day with his 15 year old son Tablo. He told Ayiu to pack some bags and took his sister-in-law and his nephew and nieces with him and his son home to where he lived, a very nice estate at the outskirts of the jungle.
Aiyu couldn’t sit still and do nothing, telling Kaneshiro to take care of her babies she went back to Hong Kong to continue fighting for her husband’s release. Kaneshiro was a political activist though, and he couldn’t stay at his estate for long. He took the two children together with his own son to a Guerrilla training camp deep in the jungle. Here Tai was trained to fight with all sorts of weapons meant to kill, whilst their mother was fighting with the power of speech and laws to free her husband. Aya was not trained to use weapons, she was a girl, and weaker, according to Kaneshiro. For the first time the two children were distanced from each other. It took Aiyu three years to get her husband released, and when Tatsuya was free to return to his family it was not without several physical and mental scars from his years in prison. Ayiu spent a month bringing her husband back to life and then they went to get their son and daughter. They didn’t return to Hong Kong. Instead they lived under the protection of Kaneshiro and his guerrillas. However, when Aya was old enough, Tatsuya decided his children should have the opportunity to get away from China. Thus, he sent them to America [Blackwood is in America right?].
18 and 16 years old, Tai and Aya arrived at Blackwood Academy as exchange students. Aya, who was the kind of person who never worried about anything and always had a smile on her face settled in quickly with the typical-social-climbers. She immediately became well-liked. It was a different story with Tai; he buried himself in his studies from the beginning and distanced himself from people. He joined a few honour societies (foreign languages, science and math) and two clubs, the photography club and, to his surprise the Human Rights club got him dragged in somehow too. He joined sports teams too: year-round dance and swimming and during the winter he’s even signed up for boys’ basketball. Seeing as his father is currently unemployed, Tai is financially supported by his mother and his uncle. But he’s an independent young man so as soon as he got to Blackwood he looked for a job, and found one as a bartender.
financial status;; Upper-middle class;; $1500
