BLACKWOOD, CALIFORNIA--

Blackwood Academy. Just your regular, average, everyday school, right? Sure. The students take any class any other student would, the school is dominated and divided by different social groups, the students all drink underage and go out on the weekends and have a good time they way they would anywhere else. Sure, they go to school in a building almost 140 years old, but everything has been updated and modernized for convenience. The campus is beautiful and filled with lots of little nooks and crannies that make a prefect place to curl up with a book. There are huge fireplaces in some of the main building areas, which are often lit and make great places to hang out with your friends. Just a picture perfect place with picture perfect views and picture perfect people. Right? Wrong.

 Curing Boredom
« Thread Started on Jan 16, 2008, 3:50pm »

It was late in the afternoon, and there didn't seem to be much to do. Kali had began to grow bored, so she decided to go ahead and head to the library. It was a place that was sure to cure her boredom at least. Her blue eyes gazed around the halls as she walked. Was there anything she wanted to bring along with her? Kali peaked into her messenger bag to see what was in there. Just the usual items. A sketch book, some paints, her ipod, a portable game, and a few other items. Nothing else needed to be added.

The blond haired girl was dressed in a hoodie with purple fishnet sleeves, a pair of black jeans, and sneakers that had were pink and black. Her hair was worn down with a few strands hanging over her shoulders. Kali had felt that the outfit looked great on her, although she was never one to really care about looks. As long as the clothes were comfortable, clean, and fit her body type well there were no problems.

It didn't take long for the Junior to arrive outside the library. She walked through the entrance and looked around. There didn't seem to be anyone around. That seemed reasonable enough, it would be much more quiet with so few people around. Kali set her skelanimals bag down upon a table. Taking a seat in a chair, she reached inside and pulled out her sketchbook. The girl wasn't in the mood to go digging for a book to read, plus she had started on a drawing earlier that morning. The blond girl then began to draw upon a page in her sketchbook. If she didn't get interrupted maybe she'd be able to finish it within ten minutes.

Rayne Haydn always seemed to be running late for something, as she often got held up by her last engagement. It wasn't that she was over scheduling herself- in fact it was quite the opposite- but she just always seemed to get caught up in the sweep of things. Rayne had just left a meeting of one of her various honor societies, and was now headed to the library. For the first time in a while she wasn't late to something, but she did have to return some library books. If she waited one more day they'd be overdue, and it was much easier to just return them now then worry about some stupid library fine.

She made her way down the main hallway to the library, clutching her books under one arm as she walked past the sensors. They didn't beep, which was a nice change. Every time Rayne got within a foot and a half of the sensors, they went off, so to be able to walk through them without a dirty look from the librarian was nice. She smiled as she made her way to the returns counter, handing the books over. She'd used them for some school project or another. She couldn't really remember what it had been on, not that it mattered. She smiled at the librarian, who told her she owed money. Rayne blinked, surprised. The books were not overdue, were they? But the librarian told her they were due a week ago. Rayne sighed, assuming she'd forgotten the due date, and paid the fine.

Still angry that she'd forgotten the due date, Rayne was about to leave th library, when she noticed a familiar head engrossed in a drawing. Smiling, the brunette made her way over there. Kali McKenzie was one of Rayne's friends, and possibly the one who got most aggravated when something caused Rayne to be late to meeting her. Rayne hated being late, but sometimes it was unavoidable. Thankfully she and Kali didn't have a set meeting time; in fact, they hadn't even planned to meet. Rayne stopped in front of the table, waiting for Kali to finish drawing. She knew being interrupted in the middle of something, especially art, often made you lose your train of thought, and Rayne knew how much it annoyed her, let alone other people. So she waited patiently, far enough away from Kali so as to not be hovering, waiting to be noticed by her friend.

Kali continued working on her drawing not really paying attention to what was going on around her. In fact, she hadn't even noticed that Rayne had entered the library. If she didn't finish her work now, then who knew when she'd get another chance. In fact, if the blond haired girl just stopped drawing now she'd probably forget about it for weeks. It was always better to finish something like art as soon as possible.

What was Kali drawing? She was drawing a picture of a lizard that she had seen earlier that week outside. It was a normal habit for the girl to draw things that she saw every once in awhile. In fact, the only things she hadn't gotten around to drawing were the people she had met around the school. Soon enough however, Kali had finished her drawing and took a quick glance at it. It looked like the lizard she'd seen, and in all honesty she was slightly pleased with her work. She closed her sketchbook and set it back into her bag.

As she was stood up to leave, her blue eyes soon spotted Rayne standing nearby. "Oh, hey Rayne." Kali greeted calmly. "Sorry if I didn't notice you earlier. I was kind of busy." She hoped that her friend wouldn't find it rude that she hadn't said anything earlier, but sometimes she could get so worked up in a drawing. This was especially true if she wanted it to turn out great.
